# API paused

The API of this instance is paused right now or accepts reads only. Resend after the wait time from Retry-After.

> **503 · The API of your Bodo instance is paused for now.** The operator stopped it, for example because of a security incident or an overload. Every call is rejected, reads and writes alike, until it is switched on again; that takes effect at most 60 seconds after the switch. Your keys stay valid, your data unchanged.

**Status 503** · `API_PAUSED`

## What you do

Do not retry in quick succession. Check again with long gaps, for example every 5 minutes, and send writes later with the same `Idempotency-Key`.

## What it is not

Not a problem with your key (that would be [401 UNAUTHENTICATED](/en/problems/UNAUTHENTICATED/)) and no throttling (that would be [429 RATE_LIMITED](/en/problems/RATE_LIMITED/)).
