# Upstream service error

A downstream service did not respond. Try again later.

**Status 502** · `UPSTREAM`

## Typical cause

A service behind the API did not answer or answered with an error.

## Way out

Retry after a pause with the same `Idempotency-Key`. The SDKs do this themselves where it fits.
